Series End Party

Our spring-time Anaerobic Annihilation series has ended, and in typical fashion, we’re sending it off with a party and a giveaway.

This Saturday, May 24th we’ll be closing out our spring series with a little get-together at The Peddler Bike Shop, 5015 Duval Street, where we’ll be raffling off a Surly frame and reminiscing on the thigh-burner that was Anaerobic Annihilation.

But it’s not just us, Austin Cycling Association’s Bikenanza will also be happening from 12:00-4:00pm, with the star attraction being a bike show, so feel free to enter your bike or be a spectator-judger.

We’ll be raffling away the frame around 1:00, and each day you raced or volunteered will get you one entry. You don’t need to be present to win, but we encourage you to swing by, have a good time, support The Peddler, andfraternize. We currently aren’t planning on bringing any refreshments, but feel free to bring your own.

See you there,

No races this week, April 20th

The heavy rain this weekend, and lack of sun today, means that our track is too wet to ride in.

It’s an anticlimactic end to our Anaerobic Annihilation series, but we were able to get in four good weeks of racing. We’re planning a wrap-up party where we’ll be giving away a Surly frame from The Peddler Bike Shop, and will let you know details on that as they’re available.

We had our third Anaerobic Annihilation last night, with strong fields in both the A and B race. Congratulations to Luke Yantis and Trevor Rosson for winning the A and B race, respectively. We’re hoping that the rains will get pushed back to after next Tuesday so that we can get in four weeks of racing in a row!

Anaerobic Annihilation Tonight!

The weather patterns remain favorable for the 3rd straight week of the Anaerobic Annihilation (aka Spring Derby) this Tuesday, April 6 out at the Austin/Del Valle Motocross Park.

Don’t let the name scare you – while the Spring format is slightly different from the regular Fall Dirt Derby, this is still very much a beginner friendly event. There is pain aplenty to be had if that’s what you’re into, but last week there was also some good old DD shenanigans involving a 20″ BMX bike and a new unofficial relay category. It looked fun enough (read: stupid ) that we’ve decided to add it as on official race category: the AA Relay Race will make it’s official debut this week. Get as many of your friends as you want – every team member has to ride the same bike, preferably a singlespeed/BMX bike. Bonus points if it has platform pedals. $5 per relay rider.

Keep in mind that we’ll be giving away a Surly bike frame from The Peddler Bike Shop at the end of the series, and the more you race the greater your chances of winning.

B Race at 6:30, A Race at 7:30, good times throughout the night,

It was another gorgeous spring night out in Del Valle; perfect weather for bike racing. The weekend TMBRA races left some people exhausted and there was a lighter crowd than the previous weekend, but fun was still had by all.

We had our first ever relay racers as four intrepid souls swapped out a bmx bike every lap. It added a new kind of pain to the more traditional kind being suffered by everyone else on the course.

We’re still giving away a Surly frame courtesy of The Peddler Bike Shop, so come and race and get your name in the raffle. We’ll have at least a couple more weeks of racing, but if demand grows so will how long the series lasts.

Here’s hoping we see you next week

Anaerobic Annihilation Tonight!

The course is looking pretty again this week, so we’re racing out in Del Valle. B race at 6.30, A race at 7.30. We had one brave rider last week do both, are you up to it? Each night you race gives you a chance to win a Surly frame courtesy of The Peddler Bike Shop, and we’re giving out free entries to winners and random participants. So come out and take part in some of the most fun mountain biking in Central Texas.

Anaerobic Annihilation has begun!

After getting rained out for several weeks, we were happy to kick off the 2010 spring series right last night. The weather was pretty and the race was hard; so naturally everyone had a good time.

The B race was 40 minutes. The A race was 60 minutes; we’ve never held races this long, aren’t you a little curious to know if you’ll last?

Remember, every night you race enters you in a drawing to win a Surly frame from The Peddler Bike Shop so come on out and get in touch with your anaerobic side.

Anaerobic Annihilation begins tomorrow!

Well folks, it’s on.

Things have finally been dried out and the course is in good shape, so our spring series, Anaerobic Annihilation, will commence tomorrow. Here’s a recap of changes for this year

-First race tomorrow, March 23rd.
-There will be two classes, A and B, with the B class racing for 40 minutes and the A class racing for 60 minutes. One race will cost $10, or $15 for both. B race will start at 6.30, A race at 7.30 and registration will open at 6.00.
-There won’t be a cyclocross specific course with barriers and run-ups, but people are more than welcome to race on ‘cross bikes.
-Races will be scored, but there won’t be any series totals or series prizes. Nightly prizes will consist of free entries and schwag.
-Races are at the Austin-Del Valle Motocross Park, same location as in the fall.
