Thank you to everyone who braved the rain and came out tonight to The Peddler Dirt Derby. Despite the showers in Austin the track was in wonderful shape, the weather was perfect, and we had some great performances.
Tonight was the last race for the 2011 season and we saw many of the familiar faces and even some new racers coming out for the last week of derby action. Thank you to everyone who made the 2011 season competitive and fun.
We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday month, but don’t forget to ride your bike because The Peddle Dirt Derby is back in action January 10th. So enjoy the few weeks off, but we hope to see everyone back out and spreading the Derby cheer in January.
Go check out the results page and thanks again for a wonderful 2011
Results have been posted from last night’s race over at the results tab. Also, there were some photos taken by Jay Archibald which he has posted to his flickr site – so check ’em out!
We had our largest kids races of the year in conjunction with giving away free entries to those that brought kids – it was certainly a fun promotion which we’ll have to do again sometime, probably when it’s warmer. It was the first real cold night of the year, and armwarmers, legwarmers and jackets were out in plenty. A fair amount of the Open field dropped out in favor of getting out of the cold, so we were left with an epic six-man cyclocross race complete with push-ups, jumping jacks, and other challenges at the end of every lap. You know, to keep them warm.
I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving and is enjoying their post thanksgiving turkey sandwich week. Although I did in fact give thanks for the much needed rain here in Austin, I was also preemptively thankful for a rain free tuesday night this week. With a few days clear of rain and a forecast of sunny skies we are hopeful for great track conditions this week to be able to get back to racing.
This week will finally be the kids night that we have promised and if you bring a kid you race for free. With the two extra weeks of time to look for a kid to bring to the races, we expect a huge kids field and lots of new young faces having fun out at The Peddler Dirt Derby.
So finish up that turkey, pump up your tires, and we will see you out at a dry track for The Peddler Dirt Derby this tuesday night
Mother Nature continues to enjoy raining in the beginning of the week. There was over half an inch out at the airport last night and that’s enough to keep the course unrideable for the evening.
Next week though we will be having our much anticipated ‘bring a kid and race for free night.’ We’ve been mentioning it for weeks and we look forward to the rain staying away and allowing us to give out some free entries.
But that’s next week. As for this week – we hope everyone has a good thanksgiving and travels safely if you’re travelling. In the spirit of the holiday, we’ve thrown up a friendly image below that we didn’t make. In the spirit of the holiday nevermind usage rights,
The biggest chance for rain is going to roll through tonight and perhaps some will linger until the morning, at least The Peddler Meteorological Department assures us. The afternoon is clear though, so we will be able to get a call on whether or not we’re racing sometime in the afternoon. At that point, we will let everyone know.
I hope everyone is taking advantage of this beautiful Sunday weather to get some quality time spent on the bike. This weeks Peddler Dirt Derby is going to be special in that if you bring a child, you race for free. So bring your kids, your friend’s kids, your kid’s friends, or any style of child that you want (please note that kidnapping is not condoned, despite the massive amounts of fun they will have out at the Derby).
While you search for a kid to bring to the derby, don’t forget to take your bike over to The Peddler for a tune up and check out their shop, pick up some new tubes, and be prepared for another great week of racing. If you have never been there take a look at their website here for directions and information about the great services they provide.
So join us on Tuesday night for what will be another great night of racing, and don’t forget to bring kids out as we hope to have our largest kids field yet!
We’ve posted results from tonight’s races. The weather played nice and matted all the dust down for us and our results guy is too tired from racing to say anything else interesting.
Next week: bring a kid and race for free. It’s our way of saying thanks to those who help make our kids race so much fun.
