Sorry all, we recieved too much rain last night and are expecting to more, so we have to cancel tonight’s races at The Peddler Dirt Derby. We hope to see everyone out racing next week.

We’ve got too much rain these past few days and can’t hold a race tomorrow. Everyone have a nice evening, enjoy spring break, SXSW or whatever you’ve got going on and we’ll see y’all back for next week’s edition of The Peddler Dirt Derby
We’ve posted results from tonight’s racing at The Peddler Dirt Derby. The winds were eating into the legs of the racers, but it was a good night, with some folks from Strava getting info on the course, a reporter from The Daily Texan writing an article and the usual gaggle of racers and spectators enjoying themselves. We’re hoping the weather can be friendly and that we’ll be able to see everyone out next week as we continue our spring series of The Peddler Dirt Derby.
All,
We’re looking good for our second week of our spring series of The Peddler Dirt Derby. After some delays due to course work and weather we had a good start to the spring last week and we’re keeping it going this week. So grab your bike and join us for a fun evening of mountain bike and cyclocross racing under the lights out in Del Valle.
In other exciting news, I just read over on Austin on Two Wheels that Austin will be hosting Cyclocross Nationals in 2015! That should be a lot of fun when the time comes – in the meantime check out The Peddler Dirt Derby for keeping your ‘cross skills sharp in the spring, and keep reading Austin on Two Wheels for latest on Austin cycling news and culture.

Thanks everyone who came out to the start of the 2012 Peddler Dirt Derby spring series. It was a lovely night for racing and we were happy to get things underway in spite of all the delays.
We raced on the site of the old course, which is a bit flatter than most people will remember. They had to move the motocross course to the other side of the parking lot but they haven’t yet moved the lights, so once they move the lights we’ll be able to race on the new course they’ve set up. In the meantime, we’re working with what is still a challenging course and still offers good races for all classes.
Results have been posted from this past Tuesday evening. We hope to see everyone out next Tuesday, March 6th for some more MTB and cyclocross action.

Celebrate Leap Day with us!
Hopefully this Tuesday we’ll be able to get the spring Peddler Dirt Derby underway. There are some chances of rain between now and then, but we’re currently going to say that racing is on and if it needs to be cancelled we’ll let y’all know.
So, Tuesday! New course! Fun times! Short-Track MTB and cyclocross! And a reminder that we’ve got an updated schedule as well:
6:15 PM Kids Race
6:30 PM Beginner Race (20 min)
7:00 PM Intermediate Short Track MTB & Cyclocross
7:30 PM Open Race
If your bike has gotten a bit dirty between now and the last time we raced, clean it up with some Grease Monkey Wipes. If you’ve gotten a bit dirty between now and the last time we raced then take a shower. Seriously. And then come out and get dirty with us again this Tuesday at…

Alright,
So we were all ready to start up The Peddler Dirt Derby tomorrow evening – complete with a new course – but then the rains came. So we’re hoping mother nature will allow us to start the spring series next Tuesday on the 28th.
We have a new course? Yes. The main motocross course has been moved south of the parking lot and we helped the owner design a new course that we can use in the old location. So the races this spring will have a different feel than ones we’ve done in the past – we hope you like it. What this also allowed us to do was design a more exciting kids race, so bring the kiddos out and have them race on something that was designed specifically with them in mind.
Also, there will be a slight schedule change for the spring. We are combining our Intermediate Races so that the race schedule now looks like this:
6:15 PM Kids Race
6:30 PM Beginner Race (20 min)
7:00 PM Intermediate Short Track MTB & Cyclocross
7:30 PM Open Race
Importantly, the Intermediate Cyclocross has been moved up and combined with the Intermediate MTB, and the Open Race has also been moved up by 30 minutes, which will allow us all to get out of there a bit earlier.
So that is all the news for our 2012 spring series; we hope to be able to start racing as soon as the weather allows. In the meantime, check out our friendly sponsors: The Peddler Bike Shop, f3 Designs, Tom Mahnke Real Estate, Austin on Two Wheels, Grease Monkey Wipes and Rising Phoenix Adventures – they all support us and allow us to put on this spring series as well as the one last fall, so we’re very grateful for their support.
We hope to see y’all next Tuesday,
-The Peddler Dirt Derby
All,
Unfortunately the six inches or so of rain that fell this past week have forced us to delay the spring iteration of The Peddler Dirt Derby by a couple weeks. There is still some track construction that needs doing and they will be starting that up once the course is drained out. We have decided to start up again on Tuesday, February 21st. Sorry about the various delays this spring; we’re as anxious to get this up as y’all are and we look forward to racing as soon as possible.
Best,
-The Peddler Dirt Derby
We were excited about starting up the Peddler Dirt Derby for six weeks in 2012 on Jan 10th, but we are going to have to push that date back to the 31st.
We are excited now though about new construction on the track. If you were out for our last week in 2011 you saw a new course being built south of the parking lot, this is where they will put all their motocross offerings starting later in the spring. They are working with us on getting a course up that we can use on the old motocross course so we are going to be talking with them in getting a course designed with some of our specifications in mind. Nothing too crazy, but having an input in the process will be enjoyable.
For this reason we’re pushing the start of The Peddler Dirt Derby 2012 series back until January 31st. Sorry for the delay, but hopefully you’re excited about what these changes can bring – we know we are.
